Prominski bronzin

The gastronomic event Prominski Bronzin has traditionally been held since 2016 on Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia (May 30). The main goal of the event is to preserve the traditional dishes of this area as part of the intangible cultural heritage and, at the same time, encourage the production of eco-friendly domestic products in order to present them as part of a tourist attraction for the Municipality of Promina. According to the rules, participants must be people who permanently reside in or originate from the Promina area and have to cook a default dish the „old-fashioned“ way in bronzin (a bronze cauldron in which food is cooked over an open fire). During the previous manifestations, the cooked dishes were lamb liver with polenta, lamb with peas, offal and mutton with kale. Many dishes of this area seem simple, one could even say they are peasant food without many spices, but that is exactly what makes them unique – you get to taste the traditional full flavor of these foods.
